These traditional festivities – having been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the UNESCO – are real delicacies of the carnival season. Hungary’s greatest folklore festival, truly deserving international fame, is about busós scaring away winter, an experience to remember for children as well as for adults. The climax of the event is the parade of busós wearing costumes and masks following traditions dating back several centuries.
