The exhibition celebrates the 175th anniversary of the death and commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pál Szinyei Merse. In the age of 21, Szinyei enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, then, under the influence of the Barbizon school and Courbet, he started painting outdoors. He later became the most significant plein-air painter in Hungary, and today he is considered one of the foremost figures of Hungarian art.
