Highlights of the Schönbrunn Collection in Gödöllő

The world's two most important Sisi cult sites - Gödöllő and Schönbrunn - are commemorating the 125th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's death with a unique joint temporary exhibition. The special Schönbrunn collection leaves Austria for the first time as part of the Sisi on Tour exhibition and its first trip leads to Gödöllő. At the exhibition, pieces of clothing, family portraits, porcelain and other personal items help us to get to know the person and myth of Queen Elizabeth.

Budapest has never hosted a complete exhibition of Renoir’s works – until now! With the cooperation of Museum of Fine Arts Budapest,Musée d’Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie the leading French impressionist will finally arrive to the Hungarian capital. Several well-known portraits and figure paintings will be exhibited together, focusing on Renoir and his modells.
Busó Festivities of Mohács

These traditional festivities - having been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the UNESCO - are real delicacies of the carnival season. Hungary’s greatest folklore festival, truly deserving international fame, is about busós scaring away winter, an experience to remember for children as well as for adults. The climax of the event is the parade of busós wearing costumes and masks following traditions dating back several centuries.
Telekom Vivicittá Spring Half Marathon
Be part of the biggest spring running race of Budapest, accompanied by thousands of cheerful runners! The event was launched in 1986 in Italy with the motto: “Long live the city! Tour de Hongrie
Tour de Hongrie is a professional road bicycle race, which was organized for the first time in 1925. Since 2023, the competition is part of the UCI ProSeries. Due to the geographical features of Hungary, most of the stages are flat - which is favorable for sprinters - but every year there is also a mountain stage, which can bring exciting twists and turns in the race. Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships

Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix

The Formula One World Championship, commonly seen as the highest class of single-seat auto racing, is coming to Hungary every year since 1986. Due to the nature of the narrow track, passing is a rarity on Hungaroring, which makes it quite similar to the track of Monte Carlo. Beeing one of the world’s most expensive sports, the Grand Prix features unexpected turns and exciting moments for its fans.

One of Europe’s largest music festivals, known as the "Island of Freedom", will open its gates again in 2024! The festival awaits festival "citizens" for over 6 full days on 60 different stages with more than 1,000 productions. Among the performers will be, among others Martin Garrix, Sam Smith and Louis Tomlinson.
Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon
Marking the beginning of the autumn season, the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon is visited by thousands of people each year. Colourful events and a course meandering through World Heritage Sites further boost the popularity of the run. Get through the 21 km individually or in a team of two or three.
World Chess Olympiad

The 45th Chess Olympiad organised by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) will be the first Chess Olympiad to take place in Hungary after Budapest hosted the 2nd unofficial Chess Olympiad in 1926. The competition and medal awarding will take place at the Hungexpo.

SPAR Budapest Marathon

Choose a distance that suits you and be one of the nearly 25,000 participants who join the SPAR Budapest Marathon® Festival. Run the official distance of 42.195 kilometres individually, with your partner, or in a four-member relay team. As an alternative, you are offered to discover the city taking a 5, 10 or 30 kilometres long route.
World Swimming Championships (25m)
Place: Budapest, Duna Arena

Organizing the World Aquatics in 2017 granted hosting rights for the 17th edition of the World Swimming Championships (25m) to Budapest. The championships are staged in a 25m pool, referred to as short course format. The competition programme is slated to span six days, with morning sessions dedicated to heats and evening sessions featuring semi-finals and finals.
